Good Friday

Hi! Today is Good Friday, the Friday before Jesus rose from his grave to heaven.

Today I got up at 11:00 AM to play Puss 'N Boots on XBOX 360 and eat breakfast. Then we went to the mall and the bookstore for the rest of the day. Good news! I'll be posting a review of the Shamrock Shake on my other blog soon, so check back soon!

Today is also my baby cousin's 2nd birthday! I love you so much! I bet she's dreaming about eating my socks while she sucks on her cake.

At the bookstore, I got two new books. Lawless by Jeffrey Salane, and I.Q., by Roland Smith. My brother doesn't like reading as much as me, and he didn't get any books.

Anyway, for some reason I kept thinking that today was Saturday. I'm on Spring Break. It was supposed to start today, but for me it started on Thursday because I stayed home to finish some work I needed to get done.

Easter is on Sunday! We're going to an Easter egg hunt then, and I'll post more details soon!

Now, to get my dad to buy me a game. BYE!!

My Birthday

Today is my birthday! I'm 12 years old! Today my mother took me to the hair salon to get my hair straightened. Then we went to the mall and had pizza before getting our nails done. Then we shopped a little bit, and went to the store to get my brother a steak when my mother realized that her coat was too small! Then I realized something. At the hair salon, the ladies had taken our coats. They must have given her the wrong coat! Yous see, when they handed her the coat, the inside tag was red. I didn't remember her having any coats with a red tag in it, but I didn't say anything. It turns out that the workers had been searching everywhere for the coat my mother had; the owner was confused. My mother was able to get her coat back and they sprayed some stuff in my hair to keep it from frizzing everywhere.

Tonight we're going to Ruth Chris! I can't wait to dig my teeth into a nice, warm, smoking steak full of rich and juicy flavor.

I personally HATE completely rare steak, even if it's filet mignon. Medium rare or medium is more me. Rare steak is too gummy, and not yet juicy.

Dr. Suess

Today is Dr. Suess's birthday.

In case you don't know who Theodore Suess Giesal was, he was a children's author most notable for his book "Green Eggs And Ham", "Cat in The Hat", and many others.
Originally, he thought he was bad at drawing real animals, so he drew those strange creatures you find in his books, such as Sam-I-Am in Green Eggs And Ham.

Title: Green Eggs and Ham
 Author: Dr. Suess
Date Published: August 12, 1960

Plot

You know the story. It's the "don't knock it 'till you try it" thing.

What happens is a strange dog-mutant thing is trying to read when Sam-I-Am, a smaller dog-mutant thing, comes rolling by and asks the famous question, getting back the famous answer:

DO YOU LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM?

I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM!

And of course, after many perilous and ridiculous situations, the large dog-mutant thing realizes he likes green eggs and ham. Typical toddler story.

Rating

You'd have to be a heartless ninny to rate this story anything less than a 4/5. It's funny, the characters are strange, and the story has a moral.

A Visit to the Vet

The events of this posts actually took place in November, but I'm blogging about them now:)

Okay, so, Monty was in need of a checkup. We took Monty to a different vet, not an urgent care one, and this time I got to go in the room with room.

Monty was SCARED. He was in an unfamiliar place, and he could see from his cage all of the other animals and their owners walking in and out. The only other bird in the waiting room was this adorable and VERY LOUD little conure.

I sat next to the chair his cage was on, rubbing his head and comforting him. My mother stayed outside; all of the animals were making her sneeze; despite my allergies I was okay, despite a few sneezes.

We saw many different types of animals. There were dogs(one kept looping his leash around his owner's legs) and cats, and even a ferret. Monty was literally shivering. He was probably remembering his emergency room visit.

Later, when it was finally Monty's turn,  we brought his cage into the checkup room. Monty was silent.

The doctor took him out of his cage( he screamed and shouted.) Then he weighed him on the scale.

Monty seemed fine with that. He stopped yelling and just sat there.

But then...

HE HAD TO CLIP HIS WINGS!!!!!!!!

Part 1

Part 2

As you can see in the videos, Monty put up a fight. He wouldn't stand for it. I felt bad that he had to get wings clipped. My dad was against it, but we needed to keep Monty safe.

I took this picture today. He's happy and healthy, and he loves to get on the floor and scout for things to chew on in my garbage can.

Christmas

I forgot to post on Christmas, so here you go:

CHRISTMAS DAY

Today Me and my family opened presents. Even the bird opened his. I received a blue/yellow Furby, Moon shoes, a plasma car, and a Perplexus Epic.

My brother got a million Transformers and a giant, dangerous NERF gun. There's like 25 darts. We'll see how long those last.

The family spent most of the day watching TV. My dad watched the Lakers while I went upstairs to watch a 1977 Nancy Drew episode. My grandma ate downstairs with my mother in the kitchen cooking dinner and my brother running through the house like a horse with a terrible itch on its nose.

Anyway, back to December 26th. I have all of these swelling scratches on my arm from where Monty was perching on me. I'm sure he doesn't mean any harm, but his nails are too sharp.

I have to go. I need some antiseptic NOW.

My Christmas Eve, and Review of Snowmen At Christmas

Okay.. so today's Christmas Eve. I didn't do much except watch TV with my Grandma . My brother spent most of his time on the computer, and my Grandma slept mostly. My parents went out to do last minute Christmas shopping, and when they returned we had steak for dinner, and Grandma, Naren and I spent the rest of the night watching TV while I finished making presents.

BTW: I actually created the presents for my family(with the exception of Monty).
Mom - Beige scarf
Dad - Yellow scarf
Grandma - Pillow made from old pajama material
Naren - Shirt/Smock
Monty - Ball

Of course, this book is appropriate for the occasion.

Plot

This book begins with a little boy who fantasizes about the snowman he has just created. He imagines the snow people coming to life and dragging each other to the center of town in wagons and sleighs. Then they decorate their large Christmas tree, hanging balls of snow high on it. The mothers hand out treats such as ice cream, while the kids play games like Freeze tag. Next, everyone starts to dance, and sashay. Finally they all see Santa(made of snow), and he hands out presents(made of snow) to everyone. Everyone then watches Santa take off in his sleigh, and begin to sing around their Christmas tree. In the end, everybody is tired, and goes home, returning to their places, happy and jolly.

Conclusion

In first grade a mom of another child read us this book in class, and I immediately liked it, so much in fact, that my mother got it for me. The illustrations are detailed and colorful, and the setting is fun. A great Christmas story; I'll give the book 5 out of 5 stars.
