Visit To The Barnes Foundation

Last week my family and I traveled to Philadelphia to see the art collection at The Barnes Foundation. Kobe Bryant spent part of his teens in Lower Merion, Philadelphia where The Barnes Foundation is.  So for my little brother who loves the Lakers we went to visit Kobe Bryant's old High School.


My mother really loves art, she said in another life she would have been a starving artist.  I like art too but I like to draw it more than I like to look at it.
My favorite art piece was this one.  Mom says she doesn't remember this one at the Foundation but I do..............

What's For Dinner? Calamari!

Woah!!!  Did you say octopus? 
Yep that's what I thought you said. Calamari is a cousin to the octopus. Actually I really love squid, or Calamari, that's what the restaurants call it.  


My mom tells me that my first experience with Calamari was at Leona's Restaraunt on East 53rd Street in Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois.  


We were moving away so it was actually our last restaurant meal there.  She said, my dad and her ordered the Calamari as a appetizer and I ate nearly all of it.

Summer Camp

Today I went to Summer Camp. It's a math class and a camp for gifted students. My report cards were pretty good, and so were my standardized test scores so I feel pretty good about making it into the camp. Actually the class so far has been fun. And you know I already told you I don't like math. But so far so good. The camp is at a University that's very large and I like it there.


Today we did perimeter and diameter measurements on a plate that we then cut up with a partner. (It's still kind of hard though)  Cutting it up was actually an accident. The teacher's example was cut up, so me and my partner cut it up. Only until we had finished cutting it up did the teacher say we were not supposed to cut it up, but if we did because we are such good students who do everything the teacher says, that's okay. Everybody laughed. We just cut the rim off, then drew the lines on it. We sort of made a mess of the string and measuring tape we used to measure our circle. Also, paper got everywhere. Then we went outside for "recess" and ate our snacks. We played Sharks and Minnows. After that, we played Hollywood Squares.

• Yesterday we introduced  friends and worked out strategies for the 1-100 game. 

Guessing a number between 1 and 100. The limit of the number of questions you can ask is 8. We learned that the hard way. The hard way? Working the whole thing out!

Here are some basic questions:

1. Is the number higher or lower than 50?
2. Is the number even or odd?

Another way to ask number 2 is by saying; "Is it a multiple of 2?

The teacher decided to make it hard. We couldn't ask any of the basic questions! We could only ask questions such as; "Does it have a 3 in it?".
We could still ask questions like "Is it a multiple of 2". We just couldn't ask about 2.

On Friday, we have a party, YUM! I mean...YAY!
Parents are supposed to bring food such as,

• finger sandwiches
• brownies
• cookies
• chips
• fruit
• plates and napkins
• AND LOTS MORE! If this is math I love it!

FIJI WATER TASTES BEST!

My mother has switched to buying Fiji Water because it's healthier than that Pure Life stuff we were drinking. Actually, they taste different. Pure Life Has that aftertaste that hurts my chest, but this water goes right down and tastes so clear!

Hi everyone! Happy Father's Day! So, yesterday we went to TOYS R US, and got a transformer for Daddy. He collects them.  Mommy says he likes to play with them but he says they are just for collecting.


We got the dark version of Silverbolt. Darkwind.

Anyway, me and my brother both got him a card and I drew a picture for him.

My father liked it but he said it looked like he was having a bad hair day.

Two Dead Frogs In Only Two Weeks!

Okay, so In just the first few weeks of June alone, I've encountered two dead frogs. One, which was my pet, who was brutally attacked by my other frog.

This is the frog skeleton, Rainbow. He was attacked brutally by Rainbow Mist, the other frog in the picture.

This is another frog skeleton I found in the yard. The black stuff is decayed flesh.       

It's feet are missing.

                                                                     

                           Then we saw the cause of all the chirping noises in our garage.

Guess what today was?

MY LAST DAY AS A FOURTH GRADER IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!


That's right. I'm now going to go to intermediate school in Fall 2011!


I am so happy. Me and my classmates walked around school asking teachers to sign our yearbooks! We played games and since it was a half day, we were dismissed at 11:30 instead of 3:30.


Anyway, yesterday me and my friend Maddy went to the incline on a hill and while there we got soft serve ice cream, went to a tourist mall where we got cotton candy and pop, and while coming home went to Giant Eagle to get food and two large cans of Pringles. She got Sour Cream and Onion and I got Cheddar Cheese.
